We are a scholarship fund
in the name of Stephen Ward of Gorham, Maine, who lost his life
in the attacks on America on September 11th, 2001.
Steve was a graduate of Gorham High School and the University of Maine. He held a Masters Degree in accounting with a concentration in financial planning and worked as a CPA for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 101st floor of the North tower of the World Trade Center.
He was bright, funny, vibrant, and caring. His loss still resonates for those who knew and loved him (because, really, to know him WAS to love him). He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend who was connected to his world in so many ways and who will be missed by so many people.
In an effort to bring some good out of the tragedy of September 11th, Stephen's family and friends established the Stephen G. Ward Memorial Scholarship Fund. Currently, the fund contributes each year to the post secondary education of a student at Gorham High School. Our goal is to raise enough funds to send one Maine student a year to college. Please join us in raising funds to meet that goal.
We will gather on the 10th anniversary of the attacks on America, Sunday, September 11, 2011 for the first annual 911 Memorial 5K. We will run (or walk) a 5K road race in Gorham in Steve's memory. There will be a kids fun run, family festivities, good food and good friends. Please join us.
Run, contribute, volunteer, or sponsor the race. Every bit of help will bring us a little closer to that goal.
